Visionary Leader: Dr. Kirbyjon Caldwell
Scripture Reference: 1 Corinthians 11:25

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” — 1 Corinthians 11:25

This powerful message, “The Blood,” reminds us that the blood of Jesus Christ still speaks, still redeems, and still covers every part of our lives today.

Dr. Caldwell began by teaching that communion is not a ritual—it’s a revelation. Many believers participate in communion without fully understanding its purpose or power. The enemy works to keep us ignorant of the truth, because once we understand the meaning of the blood, we begin to walk in victory.

Understanding the Symbols

Throughout the church, symbols remind us of spiritual truths:

  • Shaking hands once symbolized trust and peace—showing you carried no weapon.

  • Candles represent Jesus Christ as the Light of the World.

  • The altar reminds us of God’s sacrifice and our call to surrender.

  • Living flowers and plants symbolize that Jesus is alive.

These aren’t just traditions; they are reflections of divine truth. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.”
If someone you loved asked you to do one thing in their memory, would you do it? Communion is the one thing Jesus asked us to do to remember Him—and out of love, we honor that request.

The Blood Still Speaks

Dr. Caldwell reminded us that Jesus shed His blood seven different times—each for a specific reason.
The first shedding of His blood came before the crucifixion, in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:44), when His sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.

This was a moment of painful self-realization—that He would have to die for those who didn’t even love themselves. Yet, He prayed, “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

That prayer was the turning point.
Victory begins when you decide to silence your flesh and surrender your will to God.
Jesus modeled it for us: when you don’t feel like forgiving, giving, or obeying—pray it through anyway.

Once Jesus surrendered, an angel came to strengthen Him. If the Son of God needed help from heaven, how much more do we?

The Power in the Blood

As Jesus knelt in prayer and sweat drops of blood, He demonstrated supernatural willpower—the kind that allows us to do God’s will over our own.
When we drink the cup in communion, we are partaking in that same willpower, that same divine strength.

The blood hit the ground—and that was not by accident.
The Word tells us this to reveal that redemption and atonement belong to the Lord.
Every struggle you face, every question you ask—God allows it for a purpose. He didn’t stop it because redemption is coming.

There can be no resurrection without a crucifixion.
Whatever you’re going through right now is not the end—it’s part of the process that leads to victory.
We don’t fight for victory; we fight from victory.

A Covenant Sealed by Blood

There is no covenant without blood.
The blood of Jesus is a spiritual contract that guarantees your inheritance in Christ—a supernatural agreement signed in His blood and sealed by His sacrifice.

Isaiah declared, “He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

In Matthew 27:25, we see the cost of that covenant. Jesus was beaten thirty-nine times, His face struck, His beard torn out—all so that our transgressions and iniquities could never be held against us again.

He endured it all—every wound, every bruise—just for you.

Reflection

The blood of Jesus still covers, redeems, and restores.
It speaks louder than guilt.
It shouts louder than shame.
It declares, “You are free.”

When we take communion, we aren’t just remembering His death—we are celebrating His victory.
