Today I ran 3 miles in under 29 minutes. That’s not a new achievement for me—the pace itself wasn’t the remarkable part. What made this run different was that I did it in the evening, wearing a 16-pound vest. Normally, I’d say, “I can’t run at night because I’m too tired,” or “I can’t run outside because of my asthma.” But God showed me something far more powerful in this run.
As I moved forward, it became clear that the real struggle isn’t just physical—it’s how I see myself. Too often, I picture myself as the one who struggles, finishes last, or gets stuck in pain. But how I see myself matters—not just to me, but to God.
This reminded me of what Visionary Leader Kirbyjon Caldwell taught in the C.O.R.E. sermon. Just as every professional athlete needs a strong core to take hits and stay balanced, our spiritual core—the confidence, overcoming mindset, and righteousness we develop in Christ—shapes how we navigate every challenge in life.
God reminded me that in Christ, I am an overcomer. His Word says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). That means I have to see myself as capable—not because of my own strength, but because of His.
Every excuse I’ve spoken—“I can’t run at night,” “I can’t run with weight,” “I can’t because of asthma”—God has shown me that I can. And once He shows you that you can, you must run with that truth. The enemy will always whisper “you can’t,” but God continually proves that you can.
Some days it will be hard—that doesn’t mean He isn’t with you. Some days it may feel easier—that’s the fruit of leaning on Him. The devil may lie and try to convince you that you’ll never be enough, but as long as you depend on God, you will overcome.
Wherever you are in life—whatever obstacle you are climbing—remember this: if God says you are healed, you are healed. You aren’t an imposter. If He says you are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, then you are. If He calls you strong, you are strong. If He calls you chosen, you are chosen. You are who God says you are!
Your spiritual C.O.R.E.—your Confidence, Overcoming mindset, and Righteousness in Christ—is what gives you the strength to keep moving forward, no matter the weight you carry.
Scripture:
“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.” — Romans 8:37
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reminding me that I am an overcomer in Christ. Help me to see myself through Your eyes, not my own limitations. When the enemy whispers “I can’t,” remind me that You already said “I can.” Strengthen me to trust You in every step, every challenge, and every race You set before me. I declare today that I am who You say I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
