Series: “Life Be Lifin’!”
“SPOT HIM!”
Matthew 2:7-11; Luke 2:7-20
Introduction
As I mentioned briefly last week, when a ballerina is performing a pirouette (spinning on one foot), she or he focuses on one object during the pirouette. Otherwise, the ballerina would become dizzy. When the ballerina focuses on one thing, that is called spotting. The ballerina “spots” one object and locks into it.
Nowadays, there seems to be an unprecedented amount of stuff flying around us. If we don’t focus on one thing—the main thing—we can become dizzy… and fall down. That one thing—the main thing—is WORSHIP.
Everyone worships something or someone. Are you knowingly or unknowingly worshipping something or someone every day? The object of your worship and how you worship the object of your worship will directly impact the quality of your life! It’s important to get your worship right!
I encourage you to do like the magi, angels, stars, and shepherds did when The King was born: Spot Him!
Overview
- Your worship of the King is shaped by your view of The King. If you don’t think highly of Him, then your worship will be pitiful to mediocre.
- If, on the other hand, you think highly of The King, then your worship will be more fitting for The King.
- Your worship reflects the value you place on The King’s Life in your life.
- How valuable do you think The Lord is in your life?
Understand The Importance of Worship
- The first commandment deals with worship. Exodus 20:3
- The first and last petitions of The Model Prayer deal with worship. Matthew 6:9,13
- The last book of the Bible focuses on worship. Revelation
- When you get to glory, worship is the ONLY thing you will do there, and that you can do here and now! Psalm 29:2

- The King is among us. Luke 17:21

- Born in a bloodline that includes a trickster (Tamar), a wicked king (Manasseh), a prostitute (Rahab), a man who was famously hypocritical and deceptive (Judah), and a murderer (David). Matthew 1:1-15
- What do homelessness, hoochies, high-ranking folk, and The Holy One all have in common?
