Prayer Topic #10:

A Prayer for the Nations of the World

Scripture Reading:

Nehemiah 9:5-15, Romans 14:17-19

Reflections of the Heart:

The Lord of the harvest is awaiting our prayers so that His will can be performed.  He also beckons us to share His Gospel.  As you are praying today, think of those persons in faraway lands who have not heard the Gospel.  Then, think about that family member, co-worker or neighbor near you who needs to hear that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation in Jesus Christ.  Are you the one to share the Gospel today?

Scriptural Prayer:

Awesome Father, we thank You for empowering the Body of Christ to be effective witnesses for Your Kingdom.  We thank You, Holy Spirit, for inspiring the hearts of men and women in all nations of the world to spread the Word of Truth to advance Your Kingdom.  Thank You, Father, for giving us Your Spirit to unify the Body of Christ around the world.  We extol You as our God and King.  We praise Your Name forever and ever.  Every day we will praise You and Your Name forever and ever.  You are great and worthy of praise.  Your greatness is unsearchable. Lord, You always keep Your promises and You are gracious in all that You do.  You help the fallen and lift those who are bent beneath their loads.

Righteous Father, You so loved the world that You gave Your one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have eternal life. We declare that the earth will be filled with an awareness of Your glory, just as the waters fill the sea. Your Word tells us that there will be a great multitude of sheep and lambs that no one can count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before Your throne and in front of the Lamb.  And they will cry out, “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”  We confess that every person, tribe, nation, people and language will acknowledge that You are God of the nations and Your Son, Jesus Christ, is the liberator for all people.  As Kingdom citizens, we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for we know that it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.

List specific changes that need to occur in our world and begin to pray about them:

Holy Spirit, unite the Body of Jesus Christ in all nations as one so that the world may know Jesus Christ as the full measure of Your love.  Arrest the attention of Christian people to make disciples of all nations.  Bring forth a great multitude of workers to proclaim Your message of salvation to every nation, especially those nations that have yet to hear about Your great salvation and delivering power.  Protect and watch over the missionaries who are dispatched around the world.  Continue to provide for their family members and remind the Body of Christ to include missionaries in their prayers.

Merciful Father, forgive the people of the nations of the world, including the United States, who turn to other godsForgive those who do not willingly receive the love and covenant of Your Son, for they know not what they do.  Forgive those in the Body of Christ who yield to pride, competition, division, and isolation that destroy our witness.  We acknowledge that we have grieved Your Holy Spirit and limited Your great power when we yield to carnality and unrighteousness.  We confess that we have not loved the world as You love the world.  We ask You to forgive and heal us so that we will desire to be one, even as You and Jesus are One.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us all from the evil one.

Ruling Lord, You are the King of Glory.  You are the Lord of hosts.  You are worthy to receive glory, honor and power, for You created all things good.  By Your will they exist and were created.  Holy, holy, holy are You, the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of Your glory.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
