When a child gives their heart to Jesus Christ, something amazing happens—they don’t just become part of God’s family, they also become a living temple for His Spirit.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)
This means that the Holy Spirit—the very presence and power of God—now lives inside of them! And with the Holy Spirit living in them, they are never alone. He becomes their Comforter, Teacher, and Leader. The leader in them is not based on how loud their voice is or how many people follow them. It’s based on who is guiding their heart.
Letting the Holy Spirit Lead
God didn’t leave His children to figure life out on their own. He gave the Holy Spirit to help them make wise choices, love others well, and grow in courage and confidence.
“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
— John 14:26 (NIV)
The Holy Spirit leads from the inside out. He helps children speak truth, act with kindness, and walk in God’s purpose. Every time they listen to His whisper in their hearts—to forgive, to tell the truth, to help a friend—they are allowing the leader in them to rise.
Becoming a Godly Leader
Leadership isn’t about being the boss. It’s about following Jesus so closely that others are inspired to follow too.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
— 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
Even as children, they can be leaders by showing others what it looks like to live for Jesus. Whether at school, at home, or on the playground, they carry God’s light and love with them. And with the Holy Spirit leading the way, they can lead with boldness, kindness, and truth.
Encouragement for Parents and Leaders:
Speak life over the children in your care. Remind them that leadership is already inside them because Jesus is inside them. Pray with them often, and encourage them to listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice. As they learn to follow Him, the leader in them will grow stronger every day.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for living inside me. Teach me to listen to Your voice and follow Your lead. Help me be a light and a leader for You wherever I go. Amen.
