Join us for a special and meaningful opportunity in Houston — the MMRF Multiple Myeloma Community Connect event. Whether you or someone you love has been touched by cancer, this free one-day event offers the knowledge, support, and strength our community needs to thrive.

Multiple myeloma is a rare form of blood cancer that impacts the Black community at significantly higher rates than other populations. Yet many people still know very little about it — how it affects the body, what treatments are available, or how to support someone who is battling it. That’s why this gathering is so important. It’s not just an event — it’s a moment to stand together, get informed, and lift one another.

🙏 Why It Matters

As a church family, we are called to care for one another — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Attending the MMRF Multiple Myeloma Community Connect isn’t just about gathering information; it’s about being present for those in our lives who are facing one of the toughest battles imaginable. Whether that’s a friend, a family member, a coworker, or even yourself, this event provides real help and real hope.

💔 Because Too Many in Our Community Are Affected

Multiple myeloma affects African Americans twice as often as other populations, yet many of us have never even heard of it until someone we love is diagnosed. By increasing awareness and understanding, we can help people detect it earlier, seek better care, and improve their chances of thriving. Your participation could save a life.

🤲 Because Knowledge is Power — and Healing

When someone we care about is diagnosed, we often feel helpless. We don’t know what to say, how to help, or what they truly need. This event equips you with the right knowledge so you can become a better support system, not just with words, but with action and understanding. You’ll learn to advocate for yourself or a loved one in a healthcare system that often overlooks or underserves our community.

🛐 Because Faith Without Action is Incomplete

Scripture tells us to love “not with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:18). Attending this event is a way to live out our faith — to show up with compassion, to listen with empathy, and to take steps toward healing and justice for those suffering. It’s a way to let others know that God sees them, and we do too.

👣 Because No One Should Walk This Journey Alone

A cancer diagnosis is incredibly isolating, but community changes that. When we show up, we remind those affected that they are not forgotten, not abandoned, and never alone. Sometimes, being in a room filled with understanding, hope, and encouragement can reignite someone’s will to fight.
