Based on Psalms 27:12–14 | Message by Pastor Troy Johnson

There are seasons in life where the weight feels unbearable.

Not because you don’t love God.
Not because you don’t believe.
But because life keeps pressing.

In those moments, it can feel like everything around you is closing in—like if one more thing happens, you might lose your peace… or even your mind. And yet, deep down, you still know: God is in control.

But let’s be honest—knowing God is in control doesn’t always change how you feel.

And that’s where the real tension lives.

When Feelings and Faith Don’t Match

There are times when what you see doesn’t line up with what you believe.

You believe God is faithful… but things look uncertain.
You believe God will come through… but you’re still waiting.
You believe God is good… but life feels heavy.

Fear tries to creep in—not because you don’t have faith, but because your emotions are reacting to your reality.

The challenge isn’t the feeling.
The challenge is this: Will you allow what you feel to change what you believe?

David’s Declaration in the Middle of It

In Psalms 27, David is not writing from a place of comfort.
He is surrounded by enemies.
He is in a stressful, uncertain situation.

Yet, in the middle of all of that, he makes a powerful declaration:

“I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

That’s not denial.
That’s not pretending everything is okay.

That’s faith anchored in memory.

David looks back and remembers what God has already done.
And that memory gives him the strength to believe for what God will do next.

The Waiting Season Won’t Break You

Waiting is one of the hardest places to be.

Because nothing seems to be moving.
Because answers aren’t clear.
Because you’re holding on without visible proof.

But here’s the truth:

The waiting season doesn’t have to break you—it can build you.

It can strengthen your faith.
It can deepen your trust.
It can remind you who God is beyond what you see.

Two Ways to Stand Strong While You Wait

1. Anchor Yourself in What You Know About God

Your situation may not change immediately.
But your conviction about God should remain steady.

God is still faithful.
God is still present.
God is still working—even when you don’t see it.

When everything around you feels unstable, anchor yourself in what you already know about Him.

  1. Wait With Expectation

Waiting is not passive—it’s active.

David didn’t just wait…

He expected to see the goodness of the Lord.

That means looking with anticipation.
Stretching your faith.
Positioning yourself like it’s on the way—because it is.

Don’t quit in the waiting.
Don’t give up right before it happens.

What you’ve been believing for is still coming.

Final Encouragement

Believers often carry deep trust in God while still navigating confusion.
And that’s okay.

Faith doesn’t mean you never feel overwhelmed.
It means you don’t let those feelings have the final say.

So in this season, whatever you’re facing:

Don’t break while waiting.

Hold on.
Stay anchored.
Keep expecting.

Because just like David declared—

You will see the goodness of the Lord… in the land of the living.

Take a moment this week to read Psalms 27:12–14 for yourself and reflect on what God is reminding you in your waiting season. And if this message encourages you, go listen to the full sermon—you’ll be blessed even more.
