PROPHETS, PRAY-ERS & PIMPS!” Part 1

Genesis 12:11-20; 20:2-18

INTRODUCTION

Like a prism, the grace of God can be viewed from a lot of perspectives; yet, it does not change. When read and understood authentically, the grace of God is brilliantly manifested in the stories of Abraham/Sarah/Pharaoh/ and Ahimelech.  The unashamed grace chokes the influence of the enemy out of you!  I hope the power of this message chokes the enemy outta you! Let the Word do what it does …….

Prior to delving into today’s delicate text, allow me to remind you that life and death are in the power of your tongue. The Lord created all there is in the world with His Words.
Similarly, your words shape your world! Words matter!

Interestingly, in order to understand today’s text, it behooves us to note one of the well-known passages that precedes our text: Genesis 12:1-3, the calling of Abraham, also known as the birth of Israel.  Say this out loud:

THE LORD’S SIX “I WILLS” AND EIGHT PROMISES
  1. The Lord will show me a new land (opportunity, vision). 1
  2. The Lord will make me a great nation (community). 2a
  3. The Lord will bless me (endow me with His power and presence). 2b
  4. The Lord will make my name great influence. 2b
  5. I will be a blessing. 3c
  6. The Lord will bless the persons who bless me.
  7. The Lord will curse the persons who curse me; and
  8. In the Lord, all the families shall be blessed!

The Abrahamic blessings (above) are activated for followers of Jesus through Galatians 3:9,14-16!

ABRAHAM AND SARAH HAD NO POTENTIAL OR PROMISE AT ALL. 12:1
  1. Sarah was barren.  Genesis 11:30
  2. Barrenness was a sign of an irreparable despair.
  3. The Lord chose hopeless persons to be vessels of His hope.
  4. The Lord specializes in making “least likely to succeed” persons succeed!
THE LORD CALLED ABRAHAM TO A NEW LAND. 12:1
  1. In the First Testament, land represented security, safety, and shalom.
  2. The Lord called Abraham to a new opportunity, a new place to start over and “become” in a shalom environment.
  3. We cannot seize Kingdom opportunities in places where we don’t belong.
  4. The Lord calls us to take Kingdom risks by trusting Him.
