Prayer Topic #2:

A Prayer Regarding the Coronavirus Outbreak

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 100, Acts 2:1-4

Reflections of the Heart:

As you count the Omer this evening, say this, “This is the 39th day of the Omer. “We praise You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us by Jesus Christ, our eternal Redeemer and Savior, and commanded us to count the Omer.  By faith, we wait with joyful hearts to celebrate the sending of Your Holy Spirit.”

Scriptural Prayer:

Wonderful Father, we thank You for peace and protection for our families.  We thank You, Lord, for having plans for good and not disaster for us, to give us a future and a hope. Thank You for blessing us with Your perfect peace as we keep our thoughts fixed on You.  Thank You for being our strength in times of weakness. You are great and most worthy of praise. You are to be feared above all gods.  The earth is Yours and everything in it; the world and all its people belong to You. You laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean’s depths.  You are the King of glory, the Lord strong and mighty.  You are the Lord, invincible in battle.  O Lord, You have performed many wonders for us.  Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal.  We are grateful that when we, Your people, call to You for help, You hear and rescue us out of our troubles.

Eternal Father, the Name of Jesus is greater than any name in this earth, including Coronavirus, and we command peace be still!  You are our light and salvation, so we will not be afraid.  It is Your will that our lives are peaceful and filled hope, not dread. We expect Your Word to operate in all our lives.  You are our fortress, protecting us from danger, so we will not tremble.  We will live peacefully and safely in our homes.  Lord, we expect that You will continue to put a wall of protection around our families during this Coronavirus outbreak.  We confess that when we walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive us and stretch forth Your hand and save us.  Lord, You have left Your gift of peace of mind with us, so our hearts will not be afraid.  Using the authority given to us by Jesus Christ, we cancel the spirits of fear and anxiety from our families, homes, communities, cities, states, nation and world. We cancel the assignments of the devil to create global disorder and unrest.  We declare healing to come forth for those who have been exposed to or infected with the virus.  We confess that as individuals throughout the world trust in You, they will experience Your peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

Holy Spirit, please reveal a cure for the Coronavirus.  Show the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and all other health organizations ways to end the spread of this disease.  Faithful Father, help us all to cast our cares on You during this time.  Holy Spirit, please bring comfort to the families of those who have died. We ask You to protect and provide personal protection equipment for those health care workers and first responders who are caring for patients. Protect personnel who continue to work in restaurants, groceries stores, food delivery services, hotels, airlines and all industries and organizations that require essential workers to support the remainder of the population. Please strengthen the bodies of those whose immune systems have been compromised. As Christians, remind us to demonstrate our faith by living in ways that bring glory to You during this time of crisis and uncertainty.  Strengthen and protect those families whose lives have been shattered by the Coronavirus, and please provide the funds for those who may not have adequate resources for food. Magnificent Father, cause Your peace to comfort individuals and families not accustomed to staying at home, as this strategy helps reduce the spread of the virus.  Help our children and youth to process their emotions and deliver them from any fear or anxiety.  Please protect our children and elderly and keep them safe from all sicknesses and diseases. Cause neighbors to help, encourage and watch out for each other. Please increase the prayer movement throughout the world, and help us all to pray with boldness and diligence. Lord, pour out Your wisdom, knowledge and understanding to our leaders, government officials and healthcare professionals who are responsible for addressing this crisis. Touch the hearts of all world leaders to look to You for guidance and direction.

Holy Spirit, forgive us for all acts of sinfulness including fear, worry and unbelief (list the specific sins).  Forgive those who are using the Coronavirus as an excuse to speak against people.  Forgive the U.S. media for spreading fear.  Forgive those who choose not to trust in You. Forgive those who are trying to benefit from the fears of our citizens.  Forgive those of us who are Christians for not sharing Your Gospel or praying for those who are in need as we interact with others, especially our neighbors.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are the blessed and Sovereign One; the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man can see.  Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
