Prayer Topic #4:

A Prayer for Recovery and Restoration in the Midwest

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 23, Psalm 31:21-24, Psalm 139:17-18

Reflections of the Heart:

During hard times, God promises to help us.  If we call upon Him and acknowledge Him as our God, He promises to rescue us and give us long life.  Today, choose God and trust Him to help everyone impacted during this recovery time

Scriptural Prayer:

Gracious Father God, thank You for loving all of Your creation. Thank You for your continued grace, mercy and faithfulness that You extend to us daily. Thank You for giving us the power and authority to pray. Eternal Lord, there is none like You. You are great and Your Name is great in might. Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? This is Your rightful due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is none like You.

Almighty Father, using the authority given to us in the Name of Jesus, we command peace, be still in the Midwest!  As the people of God, we cry out for the people in Kentucky, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi and other Midwestern states.  We pray for the families of those who lost loved ones in the storms. Lord, we declare that You, alone, are their refuge and place of safety. Your Name is a strong fortress and those who run to You will find spiritual, emotional, and psychological healing and restoration. Father, You said that faith without works is dead, so as the Body of Christ, we confess that we will support the Midwest with our prayers and resources so that the people will experience Your Kingdom through our faith and works. We command justice to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream for the families affected by the tornadoes. We declare that favor surrounds each of them like a shield as they file insurance claims and start to rebuild. We rebuke every demonic power that is assigned to the recovery process, especially the spirits of delay and greed.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to be blessing in the lives of families in the Midwest:

Holy Spirit, please comfort the families of the recent tornado that have ripped through the Midwest. Help the young children to process their emotions and deliver them from any fear or anxiety that may try to arise.  Strengthen and protect those families whose lives have been shattered by this tornado. Lead, guide and protect rescue workers, emergency responders, cleanup operators and every person that is part of the rescue and restoration process. Convict the heart of any business, agency or individual who would attempt to take advantage of people for profit or gain. Lord, please provide the funds that these communities will need to rebuild homes, businesses and schools.  Please unify these communities so that the residents will help, encourage and watch out for each other.

Merciful Father, forgive the citizens of the Midwest for all sinfulness.  Forgive those who call on the name of other gods.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind the people of the Midwest of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the people of the Midwest not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

Redeeming King, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  You are the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One. You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power.  You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
