Prayer Topic #1:

A Prayer for God’s Guidance and Direction

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 42, Psalm 32

Reflections of the Heart:

If you are standing at a crossroads of life today, take comfort in knowing that the Father sees you right where You are. He longs to lead you beside peaceful streams and renew your strength. Be patient and wait. His Word for your life will surely come to pass!

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the covenant we have with You through Jesus Christ. Thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth. We love You, Lord. You are our strength. You are our rock, our fortress, and our savior. You are our rock, in whom we find protection. Father, Your way is perfect. You make us as surefooted as a deer, enabling us to stand on mountain heights. You train our hands for battle. You have given us your shield of victory. You have made a wide path for our feet to keep us from slipping.

Loving Father, we declare that we, the Windsor Village Church Family will put our total trust in You. We know that You can be trusted to keep Your promise. We confess that we will obey Your instructions. We will not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. We expect to be successful in everything we do. We, Your children, proclaim that our way is like the first gleam of dawn which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. We will pay attention to what You say and listen carefully to Your words. We will not lose sight of them. We will allow them to penetrate deep into our hearts, for they bring life and healing to our whole body. We have confessed the Lord Jesus Christ and He has saved us. Therefore, we listen to His voice and follow Him. As we seek Your wisdom in our daily decisions, we declare that we can hear Your voice saying, “This is the way you should go.” When we need wisdom about anything, we will not be afraid or ashamed to ask because we know You to be a generous God. You will give us the guidance and direction we need. We confess that when we ask, we will be sure that our faith is in You alone. We will not waver, bouncing between You and this world’s way of doing things.

Holy Spirit, You alone know the mind of the Father. Lead us as a Church Family along the path of everlasting life. Help us to refrain from regret and condemnation when we remember our past mistakes. But teach us to hide Your Word in our hearts that we might not sin against You. Give us the courage to trust You to guide our lives. Then we know we won’t be doing what our sinful nature craves. Help us not to copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let the Father transform us into a new person by changing the way we think. Then we will learn to know His will for us, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Teach us to value and respect the wisdom that our spiritual leaders freely share with us. Guard our hearts from pride and rebellion so that we do not cut ourselves off from Your life-giving truth.

Holy Spirit, please give me guidance and direction about these specific situations in my life (list them here):

Faithful Father, forgive us for not always seeking Your Kingdom above all else and sometimes failing to live righteously. Forgive us for times when we have grieved the Holy Spirit with our willful disobedience. Forgive us for not always being the best examples for those who may be spiritually immature to follow. Forgive us for making decisions according to our own desires and understanding. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Sovereign God, You are the Immortal One; the one true God! You are the Author and Finisher of our faith. Your rule is everlasting and Your Kingdom is eternal. All the people of the earth are nothing compared to You. All of Your acts are just and true! In Jesus’ name, amen.
