Prayer topic #15:

A Prayer for Spiritual Cleansing and Renewal

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 19:1-11, Isaiah 1:10-20, James 4:7-10

Reflections of the Heart:

As believers, at times our lives become tainted by the influences of the world. During this week of fasting and prayer, ask the Holy Spirit to help you to examine your heart concerning your personal sins. Confess your sins and renew Your surrender to God. Then say to God like King David said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me!” – Psalm 51:10

Scriptural Prayer:

Glorious Father, we come before Your presence with thanksgiving and praise. We thank You for blessing us with Your love, presence, and anointing. Thank You for speaking to us through Your Word and maturing us in Your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. You are an awesome Father.  We, Your children, are so glad to be a part of Your household of faith. We honor You, the only true God, the living God and the everlasting King. The whole earth trembles at Your anger and nations cannot stand up to Your wrath. You made the earth by Your power, and You preserve it by Your wisdom.  With Your own understanding, You stretched out the heavens.

Gracious Father, we come into Your presence with sincere hearts fully trusting You. We declare that our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. As a Church Family, we are expecting Your salvation to come like the dawn. We are expecting our wounds (physical, emotional, and spiritual) to heal quickly. We look forward to Your Godliness leading us forward and Your glory protecting us from behind. We are fully confident that when we call on You, You will answer quickly, “Yes, I am here.” Hallel YAH! We look forward to You giving us water when we are dry and restoring our strength when we are weak. We expect to be like a well-watered garden and ever-flowing spring.

Holy Spirit, help us not to go back to old unhealthy eating habits. Help us to continue our discipline of being with You daily through prayer and the study of Your Word. Help us to remember this refreshing time of spiritual cleansing and renewal and to commit to keeping these new and improved habits.

Holy Spirit, show me the specific sins that are in my heart. List them and confess them below:

Sovereign Lord, there is none like You. You are great and Your name is full of power. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours. This is Your Kingdom. We adore You as the one who is over all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
