Prayer Topic #3

A Prayer Concerning Evangelism

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 24, Matthew 9:35-38

Reflections of the Heart:

“The Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ… If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose.”

~ C. S. Lewis

Scriptural Prayer:

Loving Father, thank You for Jesus – the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Thank You for the privilege to call upon His name. Thank You for the opportunities that You give us to share the Good News with everyone. We are grateful for those who were obedient to share the Truth with us. They helped us to receive eternal life in Christ. We cannot help but worship You, for Your love is so amazing. It reaches into the darkest depths of our human experience and reclaims our souls by grace. We adore You as our Father, Jesus as our Lord, and the Holy Spirit as our Advocate. Without Your grace, none of us would be here today. All of our praise belongs to You, Most Holy One!

Gracious Father, we, the Body of Christ, declare that we will let our light shine for all to see. Your glory, Lord, rises to shine on us. Therefore, we expect You to fulfill our request for more workers who are equipped and ready to harvest Your fields. We will proclaim to the world that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God! We believe that the Holy Spirit is beckoning the lost to come and lay their burdens at the feet of Jesus. We confess that they are receptive to the Good News and eager to embrace the Truth of God’s Word. We proclaim that revival is stirring within the soul of the Church all over the world, and we will see great signs and wonders of the manifested glory of God. We decree that we are a prepared people; positioned in Your timing and for Your purposes to build Your Kingdom!

List the names of friends, family members, and co-workers who are unsaved and pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare their hearts to receive the gift of salvation today:

Holy Spirit, let there be a renewed commitment among all disciples of Christ to focus on evangelism. Help us to be easily identifiable to unbelievers by the love we show to one another. Give us a heart of compassion and keep us from operating out of a spirit of religious tradition. Remind us that we are Christ’s ambassadors and that the Father is making His appeal through us. Keep our hearts convicted to exhibit the character of Christ in our homes, our neighborhoods, in the workplace, and in the marketplace. Show us how to minister the grace of God to the lost and hurting, wherever we may encounter them.

All-Knowing Father, please forgive us for our sins. Forgive us for our apathetic approach to ministry. Forgive us for allowing our hearts to become too hardened to care about the lost. Forgive our pastors and leaders in the Body of Christ for failing to keep the Gospel message pure and holy. Forgive us for missing precious opportunities to share our testimonies with others. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show You names or faces of people that You may need to forgive. As He shows You, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Righteous Father, we exalt Your Son, Jesus, as the true Bread of God who was sent from heaven and gives life to the world. We are in awe of the majesty of Your tremendous voice.  It is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of Your power. Your name be praised and worshipped forevermore! In Jesus’ name, amen.
