There are moments in life when we stand in situations that feel bigger than us. Battles we did not ask for. Seasons we do not fully understand. Circumstances that make us wonder how things will work out. In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah found themselves facing a battle they could not win in their own strength. Yet instead of running in fear, they gathered together before God.
“And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.”
What stands out to me is that everyone showed up. The men. The women. The children. Even the babies were present. Families stood together in expectation before God. They did not have the answer yet, but they positioned themselves before the One who did.
Sometimes faith looks like simply showing up.
Showing up to pray when you feel weak.
Showing up to worship while carrying worry.
Showing up with tears in your eyes but hope still in your heart.
Showing up when you do not know how God will move, but you trust that He will.
God’s instruction to them was simple: do not be discouraged and do not be afraid.
Fear will always try to speak louder than faith. Discouragement will try to convince you that nothing is changing. But faith says, “God is still working, even when I cannot see it yet.”
The people of Judah did not fight their battle with panic. They fought it with prayer, worship, unity, and expectation. They trusted that if God called them to stand, He would also move on their behalf.
Sometimes we want God to move first before we trust Him. But often God asks us to trust Him first.
Show up.
Trust God.
Expect Him to move.
Not because circumstances look favorable, but because God is faithful.
Whatever battle you may be facing today, do not allow fear to make you retreat. Stand before the Lord with confidence. Bring your family, your worries, your prayers, your unanswered questions, and your hope. God is still able to do what seems impossible.
The same God who fought for Judah is still fighting for His people today.
