Ephesians 6:2 instructs children to honor their parents. There isn’t much mystery about the word honor. It means to hold in high esteem, to treat with reverence and respect. Although I was raised in a father absent home my Uncle Jesse was the male role model that commanded respect. Even though I am a father of an adult son, when I visit my uncle I do not get overly familiar…… “Say, Jesse, what’s happening”? I just can’t do it. The man would just stare at me. It’s “Uncle” or “Sir “some other term that tells him that I respect his position. Kids need their fathers to help them understand that you are the adult and they are the child and that they are to respect adults. In time, they are going to get it right. But what we dads need to do in the meantime is be consistent, teach it, expect it and encourage it. In teaching our children to honor us we are teaching them ultimately to honor God. WHY????

Please share your thoughts.

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 146, Hebrews 11

Reflections of the Heart:

Faith is defined as belief that is not based upon proof. As Christians, we should have immovable faith in God and His Word. Decide today that absolutely nothing will shake your faith in the promises of our Heavenly Father!

Scriptural Prayer:

Eternal Father, we thank You for being in relationship with us. Thank You for drawing us into Your holy family through the meritorious works of Jesus Christ. Thank You for creating us to be kings of The King and lords of The Lord. Thank You for sending us the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us on this faith walk. The heavens proclaim Your glory and the skies display Your craftsmanship. Lord, we will praise You with our whole hearts. We will tell of all the marvelous things You have done. We will be filled with joy because of You. We will sing praises to Your Name, O Most High.

Righteous Father, as citizens of Your Kingdom, we are righteous people who live by faith. We declare that we will trust in You with all of our hearts and not depend on our own understanding. We will seek Your will in all that we do and in every situation, we will trust that You will show us which path to take. We will strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. We will run with endurance the race that You have set before us; keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Champion, who initiates and perfects our faith. We confess that we will seek Your Kingdom above all else, and live righteously, and trust that You will give us everything that we need. Father God, we know that You are not a man that You should lie, nor the son of man that You should repent. So, we will stand on Your Word and put all of our faith and confidence in You. We declare as Kingdom citizens that we will trust You with our finances, families, businesses, relationships and every other area of our lives. We confess that our works will reflect the faith that we have in You, our Father.

Holy Spirit, please help each member of our Church Family to relinquish control to You to lead their lives. Help each member to transform the way they think by meditating on the Word, so that they will embrace and walk in their Kingdom authority and rights. Help our parents and guardians to model and teach Kingdom faith to their children and youth. Holy Spirit, please show us all those areas in our lives where our faith is faltering and reveal the tools that we need to increase our faith in those areas. Lord, there are some who have had so many disappointments in life that they have a hard time walking by faith. Please help them to get the help they need to process those disappointments and heal those internal wounds, so that they can begin to walk in their Kingdom authority.

Write down those areas that the Holy Spirit shows you that you need to increase your faith. Now, ask Him for a strategy to work on those areas:

Compassionate Father, please forgive us for not having complete faith in You at all times. Forgive us for having more faith in ourselves, our jobs, our finances, our gifts and talents and other people than we do in You. Forgive us for harboring dead faith. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Triumphant Lord, all glory belongs to You, who alone are God. All glory, majesty, power and authority are Yours before all time and in the present and beyond all time! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Psalm 33:1-9, Jeremiah 29:11-14

Reflections of the Heart:

exact opposite of that. But the truth is that singles have unique advantages that allow them to focus on self-improvement and Kingdom-building pursuits that those who have the responsibilities and obligations of marriage and parenting cannot always partake of. If you are a single person, relish this time and don’t allow the flesh or the world to steal it from you!

Scriptural Prayer:

Marvelous Father, we thank You for the single members of our Windsor Village Church Family. Thank You for the plans and purposes that You have for their lives. Thank You for reminding our singles that they are complete in You. We give thanks to You and we sing praises to You, O Most High. It is good for us to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning and Your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. Great is Your faithfulness. Your mercies are fresh every morning.

Faithful Father, You have been gracious to our singles and it is Your will that they are joyful always, ceaseless in prayer, and thankful in all circumstances. In Jesus’ Name, we declare that our singles are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. They do only those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. Our singles do not despise this season in their lives; they embrace it. We decree that they fix their thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely and admirable. Their minds are filled with things that are excellent and worthy of praise. We declare that wisdom will enter their hearts and knowledge will fill them with joy. Wise choices will watch over them and understanding will keep them safe. We confess that our singles love You, therefore, they will not team up with those who are unbelievers, neither will they partner with those who practice wickedness. For those preparing for marriage, we decree that they are living wisely and making the most of every opportunity.

Holy Spirit, help the singles in our Church Family to strip off every weight that slows them down; especially the sin that so easily trips them up. Teach them to run with endurance the race God has set before them. Search them, O God, and know their hearts. Test them and know their anxious thoughts. Point out anything in them that offends You, and lead them along the path of everlasting life. Should they ever become discouraged, remind them that if You are for them, who can ever be against them? Holy Spirit, help them to process any pain from their past and lead them to connect with those who are anointed and assigned to help them walk out their destiny. Show them how to make divine connections with others who will hold them accountable and help keep them focused and pressing toward the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling them.

Father, as a married person, I commit to encouraging the following singles by:

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following singles:

Compassionate Father, forgive our singles collectively and individually for the sinful acts that they have committed against You including: idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, homosexuality, selfish ambitions, fornication, envy, drunkenness, division and disobedience. Forgive them for not acknowledging You in all their ways. Forgive them for times when they have lost sight of who they are in Christ Jesus. Merciful Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our singles of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Merciful King, help our singles not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Almighty God, You alone are God. You are the First and the Last. It was Your hand that laid the foundations of the earth; Your right hand that spread out the heavens above. When You call out the stars, they all appear in order. O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may You be praised forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours, O Lord, and this is Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

You are the One who forgives all our sins, heals us from diseases, redeems us from death, and crowns us with love and tender mercies. We honor You as our Lord and Savior. Lord our God, Your majestic Name fills the earth. Your glory is higher than the heavens!

Heavenly Father, we declare that Your Word, as it is spoken, will move swiftly through the earth and save the lost. We confess that as the Gospel is shared, Your Word is operative in the lives of those persons who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord (Leader) and Savior (Forgiver). As people confess with their mouths, the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, they will be saved. Father, we declare that they will know the Truth, and the Truth will set them free. As I confess my sins, today. I am confident that You are faithful and just to forgive me and will cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Lord, I submit to You, my spirit, soul, and body. In Jesus Christ, I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

List the people that you know who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to witness to them. Trust Him to give you the courage to approach them and the words to say to them.

Eternal Father, we ask You to clear the way so that Your Gospel may be preached in every city, state, country, and continent. Since the harvest is plentiful, please send laborers to proclaim Your Word of salvation. Father, as Your Word goes forth, touch the hearts of the unsaved to receive it. Circumcise the heart of every man, woman, boy, and girl and draw them to You. Lord, surround them with the counsel of the Godly so that they may be washed in the water of Your Word; putting away the old man and putting on the new. Father, please give me the courage and boldness to witness to the unsaved. Holy Spirit, help me to live in such a way that the light of Christ shines in my private and public life.

Holy Father, forgive the unsaved for not acknowledging You or Your Son. Forgive them for disobedience, hatred, rebellion, murder, idolatry, homosexuality, greed, racism, adultery, fornication, injustice, violence, and rejection of Your Gospel. Please have mercy upon them and extend Your grace towards them. Lord, forgive us as a Church Family for not sharing Jesus and the Gospel with more people. Forgive me for being timid and reserved about one of the greatest miracles known to humankind.

Immortal Father, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Blessed Lord, You are the King of glory. You are the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Lemonade Day was a blast for me!!

It was a blast for me because I was able to hang out with my friends all while working. Lemonade Day helps me and other fifth graders use our math skills in the real world. Being the cashier, we had to use our addition and subtraction skills to give the people back the change that they needed.

I really wish my Lemonade Day experience was not over because I love to help and raise money for people who do not have as much money as we do. I love doing Lemonade Day because it involves helping and I love to help. When I say help, I mean the money that we made working the lemonade stand, we gave to the KBC for children in Kenya.

If you have a child that’s going to be in fifth grade next year please be sure to sign them up for Lemonade Day. They will love the experience!

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 11:4-7, Psalm 91:1-10

Reflections of the Heart:

God desires that our educators and students are safe at our schools. So, let us continue to pray for the protection of our educators and students at the schools in our communities.

Scriptural Prayer:

Wonderful Father, we thank You for Your love and presence at (speak the name of your school). Thank You for Your provision our educators and students. We thank You, Lord, for safety and protection for every educator and student at (speak the name of your school). Thank You for blessing our community with Your peace. We, Your people, come before You clapping our hands and shouting with joy unto You. You are awesome, Lord Most High! You subdue nations before us and put our enemies under our feet! Father, we thank You for choosing a promised land for our inheritance. We sing praises to You, our Father, and declare that You are the King over all of the earth!

Almighty Father, we decree that You are the Light and Salvation of our educators and students at (speak the name of your school), so they will not be afraid. You are their fortress, protecting them from danger, so they will not tremble. We declare that our educators and students will have peace and safety at (speak the name of your school) and that their homes will be places of rest and relaxation. We decree that our community is vibrant and prosperous. In Jesus’ Name, we confess that our educators and, students, as well as the residents of our communities and the surrounding communities will depart from evil and do good; we will all search for peace and work to maintain it. In the authority given to us by Jesus Christ, we rebuke every spirit of fear, intimidation, murder, theft, vandalism, violence, bullying, destruction, discord and perversion from (speak the name of your school).

I confess the following promises of God upon (list the name of your school).

Holy Spirit, give us courage and help us as Christians, to share Christ with our unsaved educators and students at (speak the name of your school). Remove the scales from the eyes of those who cannot see Your glory and faithfulness. Use us as Your instruments to be a blessing at (speak the name of your school). Build a hedge of protection around our school. Help each educator and student to walk in love and unity towards one another. Remind all of us to watch out for one another. Let Your Spirit of love permeate our school and community. Holy Spirit, unify our community and help us to stand against violence, crime, and injustice at (speak the name of your school).

Merciful Father, forgive our educators and students at (speak the name of your school) for any acts of sinfulness, including theft, strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, violence, injustice, hatred, oppression, greed, idolatry, pride, slander, sexual immorality, lewd behaviors, selfish ambition, abuse of any type, drunkenness, wild parties, division, and other sins like these. Forgive those at (speak the name of your school) and in our communities who do not trust in You. Forgive those of us who are Christians for not sharing Your Gospel with our educators, students and neighbors. Holy Spirit, remind our educators and students at (speak the name of your school) of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our educators and students at (speak the name of your school) to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are the blessed and Sovereign One; the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man can see. Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Students Taking End-of-Course Exams

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 111, Proverbs 3:1-8

Reflections of the Heart:

“Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.” Proverbs 4:7

Scriptural Prayer:

Majestic Father, we thank You for our students who are preparing for End-of-Course Exams. Thank You for crowning our students with wisdom and honor. Thank You for the teachers and instructors who have a genuine interest in seeing our children and youth succeed. O God, You are our God; we earnestly search for You. Our souls thirst for You; our bodies long for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water. We have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how we praise You! We will praise You as long as we live. We will lift up our hands to You in prayer. You satisfy us more than the richest feast. With songs of joy will we praise You.

Royal Father, we confess that our students are well versed in every area of learning; gifted with knowledge and good judgment. We declare that just as You anointed Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego with an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom, that You will anoint our students to excel in their academics and to conquer their End-of Course Exams. We decree that our students understand the value of knowledge; they understand that wisdom is more profitable than silver and her wages are better than gold. We confess that they will not be anxious about these tests, but they will pray and tell You what they need. They will thank You for all that You have done for them; then they will experience Your peace which exceeds anything they can understand. We declare that our students can do everything through Christ, including excelling on these tests, because You give them strength. We expect that as they study and apply themselves to their academics, that Holy Spirit, You will bring all things to their remembrance when they sit down to begin the test. We decree that our students are the head and not the tail; they will always be on top and will never be at the bottom academically.

As the students prepare to take their Final Exams this month, I commit to praying for the following students:

Holy Spirit, please help our students to hunger and thirst after knowledge. Help them to shed every false label, expectation and preconceived notion that society has placed upon them. Help them to see themselves as more than conquerors in every aspect of their lives. Holy Spirit, please help our parents to understand how important it is for them to have an active role in their child’s education. Show them how to partner with their student’s teachers to encourage and help their child to learn. Please give our teachers creative ways to present the material in ways that the students will be able to comprehend the lesson.

Loving Father, forgive us for being negligent in teaching our students to first reverence You which is the beginning of wisdom. Forgive us for sacrificing our students to excessive television, video games, music and to the ways and customs of the world. Forgive us for devaluing the worth of teachers and education. Forgive us for not being more insistent on quality education in our school systems. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our students of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Glorious Father, help our students to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Awesome Lord, Your right hand is glorious in power. Your right hand smashes the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those who rise against You. You unleash Your blazing fury; it consumes them like straw. Who is like You among the gods, glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders? You are God alone! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
