Preparing for Pentecost (Feast of Weeks)
Pentecost Celebration Activities
- It is tradition to eat dairy products during Pentecost because the law was compared to milk and honey. When the Israelites were awaiting the arrival of their new commandments and were unsure as to what their new dietary laws would be, they ate only dairy products and vegetables.Eating cheesecake and blintzes is a particular favorite during this feast.
- Decorate your home with flowers and greenery, which represent the latter spring harvest and theLaw as a “tree of life.”
- Read the “Book of Acts” with your family.
- Study Scriptures about the Holy Spirit. A few Scriptures are provided below.
I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!” Mark 1:8 NLT
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby born to you will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35 NLT
And the Holy Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with You.” Luke 3:22 NLT
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” Luke 24:49 NLT
Then He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:22 NLT
John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:5
